Limited warranty

Limited lifetime moving hardware &
10-year aluminum structural coverage.

Parts-only hardware coverage · Nontransferable · Original installation location

This is a limited product warranty, not an installation or maintenance contract. It gives you specific legal rights; you may have other rights that vary by state. Terms apply only to defects in materials or workmanship, subject to exclusions and mandatory laws.

1. Who and what is covered

STEINHAUS Architectural Products (“STEINHAUS”) warrants eligible, new STEINHAUS-branded aluminum window and door systems supplied by STEINHAUS or an authorized seller, unless a product-specific written warranty states otherwise. Covered systems may include aluminum bifold, sliding, pivot, casement, tilt-turn, pass-through, and storefront window or door assemblies. This document covers only the components expressly identified in Sections 3 and 4.

“Original purchaser” means the person or legal entity that first purchased the product from STEINHAUS or an authorized seller and owns the product. The original purchaser is the only warranty holder, except where applicable law requires otherwise. “Original installation location” is the first property at which the product is installed after delivery.

2. When coverage starts, and what “lifetime” means

Coverage begins on the date the covered product is delivered to the original purchaser or designated delivery location (“Coverage Start Date”). A later installation, product registration, repair, replacement, property renovation, or ownership change does not restart the warranty.

LIMITED LIFETIME HARDWARE: “Lifetime” lasts while the original purchaser continues to own the product, the product remains installed at its original installation location, and the covered hardware remains in service. It ends upon transfer of product ownership, permanent removal or relocation, disposal or destruction, or another termination permitted by law. “Lifetime” does not mean the lifetime of the building, unlimited coverage for wear, or an unconditional promise to replace hardware indefinitely.

10-YEAR STRUCTURAL: Structural coverage ends ten (10) years after the Coverage Start Date. Repairs and replacements receive only the unexpired portion of the original warranty, unless applicable law requires otherwise. This warranty is nontransferable to subsequent purchasers, property owners, or occupants, subject to mandatory law.

3. Limited lifetime moving hardware — replacement parts only

STEINHAUS warrants that original moving mechanical hardware supplied as part of a covered system will be free from manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship during the applicable Lifetime period. Eligible components include original hinges, pivots and pivot operating mechanisms, rollers and bearing assemblies, locks and multipoint locking mechanisms, operating handles, and other supplied moving mechanical operating parts.

For an approved hardware claim, STEINHAUS will furnish a replacement hardware part, or a functionally equivalent part if the original is discontinued, without charging for the part. This is expressly a PARTS-ONLY warranty. It does not include removal, labor, installation, adjustment, service visits, diagnosis, travel, finishing, or freight/handling except where required by law. Ordinary wear and tear, cosmetic damage, routine adjustment, consumables, and installation-caused failure are not covered.

4. Ten-year aluminum structural coverage

For ten (10) years after the Coverage Start Date, STEINHAUS warrants that the original supplied aluminum frames, sashes, panels, load-bearing members, and factory structural joints/connections will be free of manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship that materially compromise the structural integrity or intended function of the system.

After reasonable investigation, STEINHAUS may elect to repair the affected structural element, supply a replacement component, or supply a functionally equivalent replacement product where reasonably necessary, subject to applicable law. STEINHAUS does not cover removal, reinstallation, crane/lift rental, glazing labor, finishing, surrounding construction, or freight/handling except where required by law. Structural coverage is not coverage against all movement, scratches, fading, impact, leakage, or corrosion.

5. Verified installer and installation requirements

REQUIRED INSTALLATION STANDARD. STEINHAUS products are to be installed by a STEINHAUS Verified Installer. To qualify, an installer must be a professional installer with demonstrable experience with aluminum window and door systems; possess any legally required licenses; carry insurance where required by law or the installation agreement; and follow the supplied product instructions, approved drawings, applicable building codes, and recognized trade practices. A qualified independent installer may request verification from STEINHAUS without having to purchase STEINHAUS installation services.

Before installation, the purchaser should submit the installer’s business name, contact information, relevant license information (if applicable), and installation location for verification. Following installation, the purchaser and installer should complete the Installation Verification Record attached to this warranty, with dated photos and the completion date. Verification confirms installer credentials and documentation; it does not make STEINHAUS the installer or provide an installation-workmanship warranty.

Improper flashing, anchoring, support, drainage, leveling, sealing, alignment, adjustment, or service may cause a claim to be denied only to the extent it caused or contributed to the complained-of failure. Where consumer-warranty law applies, STEINHAUS will not deny an otherwise covered manufacturing defect solely because an installer was not STEINHAUS-preferred or because an independent installer performed the work. The same principle applies to later service and installation of replacement hardware.

6. Required care and maintenance

The purchaser is responsible for reasonable cleaning, draining, inspection, lubrication where specified, and routine adjustments as directed in the product’s care and maintenance instructions. Keep tracks, weep holes, hinges and moving assemblies clear of debris; avoid abrasive cleaners and chemical exposure; and promptly address misalignment, water intrusion, or binding. Coastal or high-corrosion installations may require more frequent cleaning under the applicable maintenance instructions. Failure to maintain the product excludes only deterioration or damage attributable to that failure, except as otherwise permitted by law.

7. Items and conditions not covered

Unless another STEINHAUS written warranty expressly provides coverage, this document does not cover insulated or other glass, glazing seal failure, screens, weatherstripping, gaskets, caulking, finishes, anodizing or powder coating, electric motors, sensors, controls, electronics, batteries, remote devices, shades, and accessories. Any separate manufacturer or component warranty, if supplied, governs those components.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, this limited warranty also excludes failures or costs caused by:

Improper installation, inadequate structure or rough-opening preparation, improper flashing or drainage, unapproved alterations, or failure to follow applicable codes, to the extent causally related to the claimed defect.

Accident, neglect, vandalism, abuse, misuse, forced operation, unreasonable impact, or operation outside published design/performance ratings.

Ordinary wear and tear; routine tune-ups, lubricating, alignment, and adjustments; surface blemishes or aesthetic variations that do not establish a manufacturing defect.

Building movement, deflection, settlement, shifting foundations, vibration, or movement of adjoining walls, ceilings, floors, or framing.

Flooding, fire, lightning, hurricanes, windborne debris, extraordinary weather, acts of nature, or other external events; and water entry due to surrounding construction, improper interface details or blocked drainage.

Exposure to chemicals, salt, pollutants, or marine/corrosive environments beyond a product’s published specifications, or failure to maintain components appropriately for the installation environment.

Unapproved repairs, incompatible hardware or accessories, alterations or field drilling that cause the claimed failure.

Costs of access, lift equipment, scaffolding, temporary closures, glass removal, repainting, stucco or siding repair, trim repair, and other consequential work.

Products not supplied by STEINHAUS, or components already covered solely by a separate written warranty.

A manufacturing defect unrelated to an excluded activity or condition remains eligible for coverage. No exclusion limits any right or remedy that applicable law makes nonwaivable.

8. Registration — submit within 30 days

The original purchaser is required to complete the STEINHAUS online product registration within thirty (30) calendar days after delivery, including the purchaser’s information, delivery date, purchase reference, product identification, installation address, and installer information. Registration helps STEINHAUS confirm eligibility and locate product records. Register through the official STEINHAUS warranty form identified on the purchase documents. Keep the confirmation and supporting records.

Because this is a LIMITED warranty, any lawful registration prerequisite must be disclosed before sale and applied consistently. Failure to register on time will not eliminate a claim where such a condition is prohibited by applicable law or where the claimant establishes rights that cannot be waived. Registration does not expand coverage, change the delivery date, or make this warranty transferable.

9. How to submit a claim

Contact STEINHAUS Customer Service promptly after discovering the issue. Provide reasonable documentation, such as the invoice or purchase reference, delivery evidence, product ID and location, description of the issue, dated photographs or video, installation verification, and maintenance or service history relevant to the alleged defect.

STEINHAUS may require an inspection, additional images, or the return of an allegedly defective part where reasonable. Do not discard a part needed for evaluation until STEINHAUS has advised you about return or disposal. STEINHAUS may arrange a remote or on-site assessment and will communicate the claim decision and remedy after reasonably reviewing the available evidence. Any consumer rights or time limits imposed by law override these procedures.

10. Delivery damage is handled separately

Visible shipping or delivery damage is not a manufacturing defect under this warranty. On receipt, inspect the packaging and product, clearly note shortages or visible damage on the carrier’s bill of lading/delivery receipt, take photographs, and report the issue promptly to STEINHAUS Customer Service. Concealed damage should be reported as soon as discovered. Shipping claims are handled under the delivery and freight-damage procedure, without restricting applicable statutory rights.

11. Remedies, costs, and legal limitations

For a covered hardware defect, STEINHAUS supplies the covered replacement part only. For a covered structural defect, STEINHAUS selects repair or replacement of the affected component or a functionally equivalent product, subject to law. The original purchaser is responsible for labor, removal and reinstallation, adjustment, access equipment, inspection and service fees, transportation and shipping charges, and related expenses except where required by law.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, STEINHAUS is not responsible for special, incidental, indirect, or consequential losses, including loss of use, lost profits, interruption of business, damage to surrounding construction, or substitute accommodations. Some states do not permit such limitations, so they may not apply to you.

STEINHAUS does not make other express warranties unless contained in an authorized, signed writing. FOR CONSUMER PRODUCTS, NO IMPLIED WARRANTY IS DISCLAIMED WHERE FEDERAL OR STATE LAW PROHIBITS DISCLAIMER. To the extent applicable law permits, the duration of an implied warranty may be limited to the duration of the relevant written limited warranty; where such limitation is not permitted, the implied warranty remains as required by law. This warranty does not reduce any nonwaivable remedy available under federal, state, or local law.

12. Other terms

No dealer, installer, salesperson, agent, or other third party may enlarge this warranty without an authorized writing from STEINHAUS. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective to the extent permitted by law. Mandatory consumer-protection law applies regardless of any contrary wording. This warranty applies to eligible products sold with this warranty on or after its stated effective date, unless a prior or product-specific warranty expressly governs.
